Team Leader Finish 1st Shift

JOB FUNCTION:

To properly perform the essential functions of the Team Leader  to ensure product,  and proper production flow.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Providing training and guidance to assistants, case packers, and depanners
  2. Coordinating the slicing, depanning and casing activities in the department
  3. Actively participates in Continuous Improvement projects and processes
  4. Monitors micro-breaks and job rotations
  5. Ensuring and overseeing employee breaks occur in a timely manner
  6. Assisting supervisor in maintaining production rates to the line
  7. Must be able to complete all DSI transactions
  8. Overseeing finishing process of all designated products to the line(s)
  9. Overseeing the identification of boxes, cases, and circles to the appropriate product
  10. Overseeing depanning, slicing, finishing, and packing of products
  11. Overseeing documentation of hourly metal detection claims
  12. Ensuring proper use of weight chart
  13. Daily set up of all line equipment including test run all equipment prior to start up
  14. Ensuring proper yield tracking quality and packing of products
  15. Finishing product (including frosting, weighing, and applying ingredients; slicing)
  16. Setting up machines
  17. Ensuring QA signs at Start up and that lines start on time
  18. Taking temperature of products to be processed and pulled from the freezer, including blast freezer rotation
  19. Must be able to complete daily production reports and corresponding paperwork, and be able and willing to assume responsibility of department when supervisor is absent
  20. Making sure boards are filled out in a timely manner
  21. Maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary work area
  22. Participate in the GFSI/FSSC22000 yearly audit and assist in the development of procedures and corrective actions
  23. Must adhere to the plant’s HACCP plans
  24. Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s)
  25. Other duties as assigned
 
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  1. Must be able to operate all finishing equipment including but not limited to: slicing, packaging, shrink wrap, top & side frosters, slicers, glaze machines, labelers
  2. Must have knowledge of and understanding of all portioned products (e.g. pies, cakes, bars, and cheesecakes), unit/packs, packing materials, codes, expiration dates, and apply this knowledge to daily duties
  3. Cross trained in all areas in order to provide back up and training
 
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
 
  1. Ability to perform basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply, and divide)
  2. Ability to do overhead lifting and bending
  3. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  4. Possessing excellent listening and comprehension skills
  5. Possessing good eye-hand coordination
  6. Basic computer skills
  7. Must be able to perform job duties at a pace that is consistent with the pace set by the Supervisor
  8. Must possess good interpersonal skills including the ability to work productively and consistently with others
  9. Familiarity with OSHA standards
               
This position reports directly to the Supervisor-Production

  2. Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle or use objects, tools or controls
  3. Frequently required to reach with hands and arms
  4. Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds; if weight is more than 50 pounds must seek assistance to lift
  5. Ability to do overhead lifting and bending
  6. Possessing normal to excellent manual dexterity and motor skills
  7. Possessing good eye-hand coordination
