Material & Logistics Supervisor

PURPOSE – Responsible for supervision of staging areas.  To manage the day-to-day staging operations of the plant to insure adequate and timely delivery to supply chain functions.  Work closely with the other members of the supervisory team to assure the quantity and quality of all products are to specifications.  To verify that all products are available according to the schedule to meet customer service demands
 
 
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES – .
  • Management of the ingredient and packaging issue and return process.
  • Train and develop subordinate employees in the warehouse functions
  • Participate in the GFSI/FSSC22000 yearly audit and assist in the development of procedures & corrective actions
  • Manage JD Edwards (JDE) allocations and routings
  • Conduct audits of staged ingredients (investigate discrepancies/root cause).
  • Manage and monitor WIP inventory
  • Work closely with the warehouse inventory control to ensure product availability.
  • Manage shelf life extension process.
  • Prepare reports and reviews on upcoming materials issues or concerns to the material review team for their assessment.
  • Evaluation and Improvement of staging practices and movement to 100% product (raw and packaging) staged. Spearhead/organize the ongoing compliance to define processes
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials to next processing steps.
  • Process specification, evaluation and improvement – provides adequate details for product processes at each step
  • Management of staging department and freezer coordinator personnel to achieve departmental overtime objectives..
  • Troubleshoot inaccuracies
  • Ensure all safety regulations are followed.
  • Follow all GMP and sanitation guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Purchasing stocked items for production. 
     
    KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/COMPENTENCIES-                                                
  • A Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience desired
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the bakery environment and or equivalent in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with others
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement projects (example – mixing)
  • Team – oriented approach to problem solving and trouble shooting. With strong communication and teaching skills
  • Flexibility to work other shifts as needed.
  • Effective analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills including Excel, Word, MS Office.
  • Strong data entry skills
  • Detailed and meticulous with good organizational skills.
  • Must be articulate, tactful and professional at all times
  • Cross train with others in your department to back up in case of absences.
 
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, crouch  and climb steps
  • Frequently required to use hands and fingers to, handle, or use objects, tools or controls
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms
  • Frequently lifting and required to occasionally lift up to 50lbs. Occasionally, something may weigh more than 50 pounds and assistance must be utilized
  • Ability to do overhead lifting and bending
  • Possessing normal to excellent manual dexterity and motor skills
  • Possessing good eye-hand coordination
